Obituary for Orlando M. Barbosa
Orlando M. Barbosa, 81, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2019 with is loving family by his side. Born in Esmolfe, Portugal, he immigrated to the United States settling in Ludlow where he was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Orlando worked for many years at US Envelope/Westvaco before retiring and was a talented accordian player who will be remembered for his love of entertaining people as he played. Orlando was the beloved husband of 56 years to Idalete “Edie” (Maio) Barbosa; a loving father to Jorge Barbosa, and Kathleen Johnson and husband Kris, all of Ludlow, and Kimberly Burgess, of Holyoke; a cherished VoVo to Alexandra, Nathan, and Danielle Francisco, Julianna Johnson, Christian, Andrea, and Alyssa Barbosa, and Tosheena Burgess; a dear brother to Belmira Clemente, Lucinda Joao, Maria Aline Canelas, Isabel, Joseph, and Jorge Barbosa, and the late Jorge Loureiro Barbosa; and also leaves his brothers-in-law Carlos Maio, and Ernesto Maio and wife Christine; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for Orlando are on Friday from 4:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Saturday, June 22nd at 10:00am from the funeral home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
