Obituary for Paul Menard
Paul Menard, 93, passed away on January 6, 2014. He was born June 13, 1920, the ninth of ten children. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Anita, in 2007 and his granddaughter, Deanna Smith in 2011.
Born in Auburn, Ma., he was a longtime Chicopee resident before moving to Ludlow 5 years ago. He retired from Falls Machine Screw Company after 60 years of dedicated service and came out of retirement to work at his son’s machine shop, RPM Technologies until the age of 92, working 35 hours a week.
Paul, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather, remains alive in the hearts and minds of his family and friends. His legacy is the selfless love and dedication he had for his wife Anita and their children. Each of whom he managed to convince was his favorite. His easy humor and infectious laughter were something that was always a part of him. He defined zen without even trying. He lived in the moment, working hard, laughing harder and enjoying his life and his family.
He is survived by nine children: June Lemis (Ron), Ann Smith (Dave), Linda Menard, Robert Menard (Karen), Paula Grabiec (Lee), Joe Menard (Cathy), Tom Menard (Maura), Mary Dubin (Pete) and Peter Menard (Diane); eighteen grandchildren: Michael Menard (Ginger), Michele Lemis, Debra Smith (Andy Posesta), Sandy Menard (Chris Provost), Trevor Lemis (Heather), Pam Vestal (Ross Elmer), Carrie Choquette (Allen), Jeff Grabiec (Gwen), Tara Raftery , Melanie Grabiec (Chris Nally), Jennifer Merritt (Dave), Danielle Hines, Nichole Hines (Brad Sawyer), Christine Menard, Kevin Hines (Amy Fontaine), Jaci Menard, Lisa Card (Thomas) and Allison Menard; two step- granddaughters Jenn (Kevin Thompson) and Christin Dubin; twenty two great grandchildren: Samantha M., Alex, Tiffany, Cheyenne, Eleanor, Samantha C., Dylan, Tailor, Kailei, Corey, Austin, Michael, Gabriella, Aidan, Carter, Braedan, Meilin, Brodie, Gavin, Julian, Madison and Walker; one great-great grandson: Landyn.
Memories and traditions will go on through many generations of a family so blessed to have had this wonderful man in their lives.
Funeral services for Paul will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 10:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth Parish, Hubbard St. Ludlow followed by burial at 1:00pm in Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
Visiting hours are on Sunday from 3:00-6:00pm.
