Obituary for Pearl (Derosia) DeFilio
On 3/17/2022 Pearl Mary (Derosia) DeFilio passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center. She was born and raised in Laconia, NH. She was a lover of all things fun and full of adventure - like going zip lining for her 85th birthday. Pearl made history by becoming one of the very first women bus drivers in Springfield, MA along with her dear friend Jackie. That was something her family was so proud of her for and still are to this day. She made many friends throughout her career at the PVTA Bus Company, many she still stayed in touch with until her last days. Family was everything to Pearl, she didn’t care what we were doing just as long as we were doing it together. She especially loved her time with her great granddaughter. They both shared a love for sewing and the Dollar Tree. Pearl enjoyed her summer trips to Maine with her daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter. Being at the beach with her toes in the sand, was one of her favorite places to be. Pearl will live on through her family and their love for her. Whenever we see a cardinal, we’ll know it is nana.
Pearl was predeceased by her father and mother, Alfred Derosia & Sophronia (Lamothe) Derosia (Laconia,NH). Both of her beloved daughters whom she missed terribly, Brenda DeFilio (Springfield, Ma) & Bonnie (DeFilio) Dias (Ludlow, Ma). Her ex-husband and dear friend Luigi DeFilio (New Haven, CT).
She is survived by her loving sister, Carol (Derosia) Fontaine (Springfield, Ma). Those 2 were 2 peas in a pod. They spent many weekends going on all sorts of errands and adventures together, even if they had nowhere to go. Her 3 grandchildren who she loved with all she had, Audra Dias (Ludlow, Ma), Alan Dias (Ludlow, Ma) and Louis Brown and his fiancé Nikki Wheeler (Springfield, Ma). Her only great granddaughter who was the love of her life, Rosalia Delgado (Ludlow, Ma). She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who she loved very much.
Services for Pearl will be held privately by her family. Donation info to follow: to benefit the education of her great-granddaughter Rosalia.
