Pedro Abilio da Silva Blanco, 68, of Indian Orchard, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Joao and Maria Emilia (daSilva) Blanco and served as a Second Sergeant in the Brazilian Military. Before coming to the United States, Pedro was a longtime resident of Jaru, Brazil, where he was a Physical education teacher in several schools and founded Colégio Abílio Blanco for childhood education. He was also a master of the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira “Capoeira Mestre” and was very involved within its community. Pedro leaves his wife Rosangela Blanco; his loving sons Diogo, Fernando, and Vitor Blanco and their spouses; his grandchildren Ariana, Reyna, Juliana, John, and Vitoria; his sisters in Brazil Sonia, Selma, Solange, and Filomena; as well as several loving extended family members and dear friends both here and in Brazil. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, May 20th in Ludlow Funeral Home. Visiting hours will begin at 10:00am concluding with a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00pm. Immediately following, the family will host a Celebratory Gathering at a location to be announced. At their request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pedro’s memory directly to the family.
