Obituary for Peter D. Remillard
Peter D. Remillard, 67, of Springfield, died peacefully at home on October 1, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Springfield, son of the late Herman and Mary (Reagan) Remillard, he was a lifelong resident and graduate of Tech High School. Peter was a United States Navy Veteran proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War and also worked for the Springfield Water Department for over 26 years before retiring. Peter was the longtime companion and fiancé to Marlene Figueroa; a loving father to Michael Remillard, of Springfield, and Rachael (Remillard) Rhodes and husband Patrick, of Ludlow; Jose Figueroa and wife Rozlyn, Shawn McCray, Shannon Cedeno and husband Reynaldo, Carmen Figueroa, Eva Figueroa, and Nataly Hernandez, all of Springfield; a cherished grandfather to Ryan and Derek Rhodes, Michael Jr, Nathan, and Samantha Remillard; a dear brother to Debbie Brown, of Las Vegas, Donna Brown, of CA, Brian Coughlin, of Southwick, Brenda Tavares, of Ludlow, Cheryl Bronner, of Hampden, Christine Hannigan, of Florida, and the late Armand Remillard and Barbara Jean Drapeau; a beloved grandson of the late Avis and Doc Reagan; and also leaves his devoted dog Oscar, many loving extended family members, and dear friends. Peter’s family also wishes to acknowledge and thank their dear friends Barbara and Barbara Justice, as well as Baystate hospice nurse Linda. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013. Friends and family are asked to gather at Ludlow Funeral Home for a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 9:30am followed by burial in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 11:00am. Visiting hours are on Thursday evening from 4:00-7:00pm and preceding the service on Friday from 8:45-9:15am.Â
