Peter John Ciempa, 77, formerly of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Peter was born in Ludlow on August 23, 1947 to Stanley and Caroline (Stadnicki) Ciempa and was a graduate of Ludlow High School. He went on to further his education at AIC before enlisting in the US Navy providing support fire off the Coast of Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Peter had a long distinguished career as a Master Fabricator owning and operating C&L Canvas for 50 years before retiring. He was a founding member of The Ludlow Loafers Golf League, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus Golf League, the Polish American Club of Ludlow, and a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus #69. In addition to golf, Peter also enjoyed camping, eating & drinking with friends, playing ice hockey for many years with Popko Realty, coaching baseball and softball, playing volleyball, winter ski getaways with friends, spending family time, watching his grandsons play sports, and traveling; especially all across the US with wife Barbara and dog Buddy who joined them of 4 of their adventures. Peter was predeceased by his 1st wife Claudia in 1999. He leaves his devoted wife Barbara (Mershon) Ciempa; his daughters Karen Ingram and husband Scott and Kathy Weiss and husband Kevin; step daughter Lauren Winters; grandsons Jonathan, Christopher, Griffin, and Trevor and step grandson Christian; brother Gary Ciempa and wife Angela; sister Ann “Annie” Choquette and husband Clark; niece Bethany Jacobs and husband Paul; father & mother-in-law Paul & Jackie Mershon; brothers and sisters-in-law Joan Baker, Lynn & Joe Gomes, Les & Josie Mershon, Sandra Mershon, Paul & Dale Mershon, and James & Chrissy Grisham; great nephew & nieces Benjamin, Kate & Julia; best friend of 67 years Jim Bates; and countless extended family members and good friends.
Family and friends are asked to attend visiting hours for Peter on Sunday, March 16th from 2:00-4:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home. Ciempa picnic to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which were organizations that he believed in and supported.
