Obituary for Peter W. Clement
Peter W. Clement, 79, of Chicopee, passed away at home, after a long illness, on July 3, 2019. Born in Pittsfield, Ma., he was the son of the late Ambrose and Blanche (Meunier) Clement.
​Peter was a Professor of English for 42 years, two years at Berkshire Community College and 40 years at the Elms College in Chicopee. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Michael’s College, a Master’s from St. John’s University, and a PhD from the University of Massachusetts. He taught English and American literature and inspired many young teachers to pass on his love of literature. He became a runner in the 1970’s and completed several Marathons in Boston, New York, and Holyoke, including a sub three hour N.Y. Marathon in 1975.​Peter leaves his wife of 36 years, Miriam (Terry) Clement, daughter Kristin Clement and son Mark Clement. Son Chip Patullo and wife Claire Graham Smith, daughter Gail Belaief and husband Steve, son James Patullo and wife Kimberly, daughter Janice Cameron and husband Don. Grandchildren include Zachary Rodriguez, Jeffrey and Corey Belaief, Leah and Luke Patullo, Noah and Liam Patullo, and Colby Cameron. He was predeceased by his sister Michelle Lee.
Visiting hours for Peter will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 11:30 to 12:45 at Ludlow Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will conclude the visiting hours at 1:00pm and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
