Obituary for Piedade (Moreira) Alves
Piedade (Moreira) Alves, 87, of Ludlow, died peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Born in New Bedford, she spent her youth in Portugal and came to Ludlow in 1957 where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She also worked for many years at Tambrands before retiring in 1991. Piedade was the beloved wife of 59 years to Carlos Alves; a loving mother to Arlindo Alves, Clara Alves, both of Ludlow, Rosemary Seekell, of North Attleboro, Ana Alves, of Ludlow, and Carlos Alves, Jr., of Wilbraham; a cherished grandmother to Michelle Melikian, Lora Johnson, Lisa Alves, Amanda Williams, Kevin Seekell, and Sabrina, Arianna, and Katrina Alves; an adoring great-grandmother of Liliana Kolasienski and Kyleigh Johnson; and also leaves her siblings in Portugal, many loving extended family members, and dear friends. Funeral services for Piedade are on Saturday, Dec. 28th at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Friday from 4:00-7:00pm.
