Raul Jose Serra 90, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 22, 2026. Raul retired from Goodwill where he worked as a manager of scheduling for many years. He enjoyed dining out and spending time with family and traveling to Portugal. He was a Benfica fan and enjoyed watching all their games on TV.
He was born on December 6, 1935 in Lisbon Portugal to the late Antonio Serra and Clotilde Pereira. He immigrated to the United States in 1977 where he resided in Ludlow MA. Raul was married to his loving wife of 69 years, Elisa Serra who passed away in 2023.
He leaves behind his niece Isabel Fava (goddaughter) and husband Alexandre of North Port FL. His nephew Augie Dias and wife Maria of Ludlow. Carlos Porfirio of Indian Orchard, Jose Clemente and wife of Portugal. His niece Branca from New Hampshire. He leaves behind his great- nieces and nephews. Angelina Fragoso (Donny) , Cristina Pedro (Mark), Nancy Tenney (goddaughter) (Chris), Mark Moran (godson) (Angel), Daniel Dias (Rebecca), Christopher Dias, Lisa Dias, Timothy Porfirio, Vicente Porfirio, Michael Dougherty, Jonathan Dougherty, Pedro Gomes, Rui Gomes, Kimberly Clemente. He also leaves behind many great-great nephews and nieces who he adored, especially Gavin and Logan Pedro and Olivia Fragoso.
Sadly he was predeceased by his brother in law, Raul Dias, Augusto Porfirio, Raul Ramos, sisters in law, Aurora Dias, Margarida Ramos, Lurdes Porfirio, his niece Maria Moran, nephew Jorge Gomes, and great nephews Michael R. Dias and Jose Clemente Jr.
Funeral Services for Raul will be held privately by his family.
