Obituary for Raul "Ray" Coelho
Raul “Ray” Coelho, 87, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2011 with his loving family by his side. Born in Ludlow to the late Manuel and Claudina (Lopes), he was a life long Ludlow resident and a faithful communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church within the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth. During World War II, Ray worked at the Springfield Armory, until its closing. Later, he worked as an HVAC technician for various companies; Better Heat, Labonte Oil Company and LaCasse Oil Company. He really had a passion for his work and was well known for his expertise in heating and air conditioning. Ray was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, carpentry and especially long walks along the sea shore and beach combing, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. Ray leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Kathleen “Kay“ (Clark) Coelho of Ludlow; loving children Anne Correia and her Husband Tony of Ludlow, Linda Corriveau and her husband Robert of Ludlow and Raul “Rick” Coelho and his companion Donna Abel of Holyoke; cherished grandchildren, Krystal Correia of California, Brian Coelho and Tyler Corriveau both of Ludlow; caring brother Jack Coelho and his wife Alice of Ludlow and his sister Mary Bernardo and her husband Omer of Ludlow; sister-in-law Mary Coelho and Godchildren Carol Coelho Kalita and Kevin Coelho. Sadly Ray was predeceased by his brother Manuel “Moon” Coelho and sister Ida Zina. Funeral services for Ray will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday evening from 4:00pm-7:00pm and in lieu of flowers his family has asked that donations be made in Ray’s memory to the charity of ones choice.
