Raymond J. Murray, 70, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Holyoke to the late William and Cecilia (Moriarty) Murray, he was a longtime Ludlow resident and worked for many years as a maintenance engineer, most recently at Warren Pump. Ray was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and an extreme New England Patriots fan. He also loved forging and watching the TV show Forging With Fire, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends, especially while enjoying his many cruises. Ray was the beloved husband of Sharon (Manuel) Murray, a loving father to his daughters Amy Murray, of Chicopee, and Kathleen Whitman, of Palm Bay, FL, and step-daughters April Sams, of Surprise, AZ, and Amie Lind, of West Springfield; a dear brother to William H. Murray, Jr., and wife LeeAnn, of Virginia Beach, VA; a cherished grandfather of 7; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services for Ray will be held privately by his family with Ludlow Funeral Home entrusted with his care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org)
