Obituary for Richard Michel Fugere
Richard Michel Fugere, beloved husband of Autumn, father of Tanner, Ava and Alivian, son of Gilles and Pierrette, and brother of Daniel passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 7, 2019. He was 48 years old. Rich lived most of his life in Chicopee before moving to Palmer. He created many lifelong bonds with his closest friends who surrounded him throughout his life. While residing in Chicopee, Rich was a parishioner of St. Rose de Lima Church and is a current parishioner of St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow. He received his HVAC diploma from Porter and Chester Institute in 2010. He started his own business, Ice Man's Refrigeration Repairs where he continued his passion and created a successful and rewarding career. Rich was recently diagnosed and was bravely battling Multiple Myeloma. He was facing this challenge head on and was very optimistic about his upcoming stem cell transplant this fall.
In his spare time Rich enjoyed spending time outside in his yard with a bonfire, good music, great IPA's and the people who meant the most to him, his family and friends. Rich had a special bond with each child, Rich shared his infinite passion for music with Tanner, he taught him how to play the drums and introduced him to the "classics". They both smiled ear to ear for weeks following their recent KISS concert. Rich and Ava shared their love of the outdoors, fishing and riding ATVs but most of all Rich loved to watch Ava play sports. He was her biggest fan and strongest supporter. Alivian brought Rich true happiness, she was his princess. The joy she brought to him could be seen on his face from the moment she was born and every day after.
Rich is survived by his wife, Autumn Fugere and children, Tanner Theoclis, Ava Theoclis and Alivian Fugere all at home. His parents Gilles and Pierrette Fugere of Chicopee. His brother Daniel Fugere and his wife Donna of Chicopee and their two children, Danielle Winn and Arielle Fugere; the son-in law of Marsha Alves Tucker and husband Les, and Dennis Biron and partner Gail Doss; brother in law to William Wilson and Allison Biron. He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Rich's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute of Boston, The D'Amour Center for Cancer Care in Springfield for their exceptional care and support.
Visiting hours for Rich will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 4:00-7:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 10:45 from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00pm in St. Rose de Lima Parish in Chicopee. Final interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers a gofundme.com page has been established in Rich’s memory (www.gofundme.com/fugere-family-fund).
