Obituary for Rita Morell
Rita M. (McHale) Morell, 100, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on May 12, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Central Falls, R.I. on January 16, 1916 to John and Mary McHale and was one of six children, who have all predeceased her. She was married for 57 years to Gideon E. Morell, who passed away on October 31, 1996 and lived most of their married lives in Chicopee. Rita held several jobs throughout her life. She loved to travel, shop and do crossword puzzles. Rita was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always willing to take care of her family and friends when needed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rita was predeceased by two of her children, Robert R. Morell and Linda A. Niziolek and both her son-in-laws, Raymond M. Daigneault and Joseph Niziolek. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine T. Daigneault of Ludlow. She also leaves four grandchildren, Lisa M. Rood (Timothy), Marc Sotiropoulos (Kristen), Kristin L. Burns (Jeffrey), and Lori A. Haryasz (Robert). She has six great-grandchildren, Matthew Rood, Emily and Ashley Haryasz, Emma, Laura, and Audrey Sotiropoulos. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Diana Morell. There will be a memorial Mass for Rita on Wednesday, June 1 at St. Elizabeth Church, 191 Hubbard Street in Ludlow at 11:00am with burial following in Island Pond Cemetery
