Robert J “Bob” Crowe, 63, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2025. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he was the beloved first son of Joseph and Joan Crowe.
Bob grew up in Avon, CT with 4 brothers and a sister and with fond memories of being quarterback of the Avon High School football team. Bob developed his love of cooking with his fraternity Alpha Delta Phi at the University of Rochester. After school he moved to Springfield, MA, where he had a 30+ year career at MassMutual from which he retired as a Quantitative Consultant in CFO Valuation & Modeling. Through the MassMutual intramural softball league, he was introduced to his future wife, Nancy J (Wheat) Crowe. He obtained his first date with Nancy by hustling her at darts and later became her beloved husband of 32 years. Together they moved to Ludlow to start their family and enjoyed spending many vacations at Walt Disney World and traveling the world, especially Ireland. To his loved ones Bob was renowned for his caring through cooking and ability to tailor recipes to each person’s preference, whether it be ribs, brisket, shrimp creole, bolognese, gluten free lasagna, or oatmeal chocolate chunk cookies. His charcuterie boards, pinwheel cookies, and homemade ice cream will be greatly missed every holiday. Bob was an avid sports fan following the New York Giants, Boston Red Sox, Colorado Avalanche, UMass football, and Northeastern hockey.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy; their daughters Kelly J Crowe and partner Timothy Moriarty of Derry, NH (and grandkitties Rusty, Bucket, and Duke), and Shannon E Crowe and partner Samuel Barratt of London, England; his mom Joan V (Vannie) Crowe of Mashpee MA; his brothers Stephen J Crowe and partner Tammy of Bristol CT, Peter J Crowe and wife Sally of Simsbury CT, David P Crowe and wife Michele of Hopkinton MA; his sister Brenda Crowe Burke and husband David of Heartland TX. Bob was a cherished uncle to Colleen Crowe Silva and husband Roger, Brian Crowe and partner Brian Hess, Garrett Crowe, Hannah Crowe, Collin Crowe, Derek Crowe, Keegan Crowe, Jeremy Hobson, Morgan (Wheat) Draper and husband Zane. Bob also leaves many extended family members and dear friends including his brother-in-law Charles H Wheat and wife Cinda of Bath NY and his sister-in-law Kathleen Crowe of Unionville CT. Bob was predeceased by his father Joseph F Crowe and his nephew Kevin J Crowe.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Dakin Humane Society or to your favorite charity.
