Obituary for Robert "Bob" L. Langlais
Robert “Bob” L. Langlais, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 22, 2017. Born in Springfield, son of the late Albert and Rose (Prarie) Langlais, he lived most of his life in Ludlow, where he was a faithful communicant at St Elizabeth’s parish, formerly St. John the Baptist. Robert was the beloved husband of 66 years to Jeannine (Levesque) Langlais; a loving father to Richard Langlais, of Ludlow, Denise Golinski and late husband Carl, of Ludlow, David Langlais and wife Maryann, of Monson, and Lynn Anderson and husband Bruce, of Jay, NY; a devoted grandfather to Jaime Morrisette, Joe Golinski, Liz Anderson, Jonas Anderson, and the late Holly Golinski; and an adoring great-grandfather to Quentin, Elyse, and Theo. He also leaves his brother Roger Langlais, of Ludlow, and his late sisters Olivette LeClair and Rolande Ramos.
Robert proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was later employed for 37 years by Monsanto, where he was a member of the 25 Year Club. After retirement, he spent much of his time living on Cape Cod with his wife where he, a lifelong tinkerer and self-taught student of mechanics, worked at Farrell Electric Co. in Eastham. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, walking his dog T-Boy, and spending time with friends, family, and neighbors. In his younger years, he belonged to square-dancing and motorcycle clubs. Family and friends will miss his quick wit and sense of humor, his enthusiasm for all things mechanical, and his love and guidance.
Family and friends are asked to gather for a Funeral Liturgy with Military Honors on Wednesday, March 29th at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth Parish. There are no calling hours and burial will be held at a later date in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Ludlow Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
