Obituary for Roland O. Ladue
Roland O. Ladue, 84, a resident of Reeds Landing in Springfield, and a former resident of Ludlow, passed away at home on April 9, 2013. He survived his wife of 59 years, Marianne (Roy) Ladue, who passed away January 27, 2012. He was born in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield on September 18, 1928, the son of the late Osman and Eva M. (Therrien) Ladue. He graduated from the former Springfield Technical High School and attended Western New England College. He retired in 1987 after 32 years as a Materials Engineer at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Roland resided in Wilbraham for 26 years prior to moving to Ludlow in 1991. While in Wilbraham, he served on the Board of Fire Commissioners for eight years. He was active in the Lions Club International for 30 years having served as President and other offices of the Wilbraham and Sixteen Acres clubs. He was a communicant of the former St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Ludlow, and was a member of the senior choir. He leaves behind and will be missed by his four children, Pati Stillwater and her partner Shirley Van Kainen, Glenn Ladue and wife Bernadette, Gayle White and husband Stephen, and Cheryl Piper and husband Steven. He also leaves his grandchildren Benj, Kaela, Taylor, Jesse, Sandra, and Eli and his wife Melisa, and three great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Caleb and Zachary. He leaves a brother Osman J. Ladue of Indian Orchard and a sister Lorraine Dion of Chicopee. He is predeceased by his sisters Doris, Estelle, Irene, and Theresa, and his brother Raymond, as well as his great grandson, Nathan. Services for Roland will be held Friday, April 12, 2013. Visiting hours will be from 10:30 to 11:45 at Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00pm. Burial will be on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Indian Orchard.
