Obituary for Rosalina (Martins) Mucaria
Rosalina (Martins) Mucaria, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow, daughter of the late Anibal and Gloria Martins, she was a lifelong resident and graduate of Ludlow High School where she excelled on the basketball and softball varsity teams. Ros went on to receive her Associated degree from Bay Path University and worked for many years as the supervisor of the Standards Department for Monsanto before retiring. Rosalina was a United States Marine Corp Women's Reserve (USMCWR) veteran earning the rank of Corporal and proudly serving her country during WWII and enjoyed attending and participating in national and local USMWR events.
Rosalina was the beloved wife of the late Vito “Lefty” Mucaria, who predeceased her in 2007; a loving mother to Gloria Fortunato and husband Robert, of Belchertown, and Roz Sousa and husband Bob, of Ludlow; a devoted grandmother to Michael and Matthew Fortunato; as well as a dear sister to John Martins and wife Lorraine, Toni Cote and late husband Norman, Dolores Douville and husband Ron, and the late Mary Bergeron and husband Al, Teresa Beaudoin and husband Leo, Celeste Roberge and husband Ed, Ida Provost and husband Al, Dolly Rigney and husband Mike, Anicet Martins and wife Camille, and Frank Martins; and leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for Rosalina will be held on Thursday, February 8th from 4:00-7:00 at Ludlow Funeral Home beginning with a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00pm. Burial will be held privately by the family in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosalina’s memory to Maryknoll Sisters (www.maryknollsisters.org) or Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org).
