Obituary for Rose Marie Szlosek
Rose Marie Szlosek, 64, of Hadley, MA, was peacefully called Home by our Lord on Friday, March 27, 2020, where her heavenly body will stand tall and walk with our Lord and His angels beside those who loved her in the past, and will watch over those who love her still. In our imperfect world, Rosie’s body and mind were severely compromised, but that never prevented her from sharing her beautiful smile that lifted everyone’s spirits or from shouting a boisterous, “Hi-eee” greeting to those she held dear. Rosie, as she was affectionately known by all that loved her, was a music enthusiast who especially enjoyed listening to polka music and playing her portable keyboard. Born in Ludlow to the late Frederick and Helen (Deroche) Szlosek, Rosie resided in South Deerfield for 21 years before moving to Hadley seven years ago. Rosie leaves behind her brother Fred Szlosek, Jr., and his wife Elaine of Ludlow; 3 sisters Genny Santos and her husband Victor of Palmer, Bonnie Atanian of Springfield, and Teri Szlosek and her husband Gene Holcomb of Springfield. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her extended family of housemates and care providers. Rosie’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of her caring house staff, nurses, Hospice staff and house managers, Bob Croke in South Deerfield and Amanda Ratcliffe and Meghan Lucia in Hadley, who through their tireless and compassionate care, Rosie’s days were often filled with adventure and joy. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a private funeral service will be held at the Ludlow Funeral Home. The family is planning a Memorial Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow followed by a celebration of Rosie’s life to be held at a later date.
