Obituary for Roy Alan Bickel
Roy Alan Bickel, 53, died on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Baystate Medical Center after a year long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Springfield, MA, son of the late Clarence Bickel and Berthola McCarthy Bickel. Roy graduated from Agawam High School and was employed by Moore Drop Forge/Easco Hand Tools for several years  and then became self-employed as a general contractor. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering with automobiles. He was an avid fan of boxing and had a passion for his grandchildren.  He is survived by his son, Jonathan of Springfield and Jessica of Ludlow, biological mother, Joan McGinn of Ludlow and her husband John, brother Martin Nofio and wife Carolyn of Warren, sister Kim Nofio of Boston and his grandchildren. He is also survived by his Aunt Martha Oppenheimer of West Suffield, CT and his Aunt Dee Hackett from Florida. Roy also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his biological father Eugene "Gino" Notino in 2000 and sister Sherry Nofio in 2007. At Roy's request services will be handled privately by Ludlow Funeral Home.
