Obituary for Roy Allen Savoy
Roy Allen Savoy of Ludlow, MA was called safely home to heaven on February 7, 2013.
Roy was born on October 11, 1956 in Kaiserlastern, Germany. He moved to Ludlow in 1962 where he remained until his passing. He graduated from Ludlow High School in 1975 and attended two years at Holyoke Community College studying Criminal Justice.
His passion was being a police officer. Between the years of 1970-1976 he was a Ludlow Police Cadet being appointed a Special Police Officer during 1978 to 1986. Roy attended the Police Academy held at the U.S. Navy Submarine Base in Connecticut. He received two Police Cadet Academy diplomas. He reached the rank of Lieutenant with the Ludlow Police Cadet.
He continued his education at the Criminal Justice Training Police Academy Headquarters. Although Roy left the force in 1986, he continued to assist the West Springfield Police Department by working for them at the Big E as a Special Police Officer.
He held many jobs throughout his life. He worked for Big Y, as an installer of vinyl and carpeting flooring and at the Bridge Package Store. However, the best and most important job Roy had was being the caretaker for his elderly blind mother and being a loving pet owner to his cats.
Roy was predeceased by his mother and father, Marie Olesine Goupil Savoy of Ludlow, MA and Louis Germain Savoy of Springfield, MA. He leaves behind an older brother, James Robbie Savoy of Kentucky, twin sisters, Anna Louise Savoy Baillargeon of Springfield, MA and Ellen Savoy Baillargeon of North Haverhill, NH; many aunts, uncles and cousins in Quebec and New Brunswick Canada.
He was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox, Dallas Cowboy and Boston Bruins. He collected many things including Beer Steins, Matchbox cars and Hockey Cards. But Roy found the most joy in collecting over 4,000 Police shoulder patches from all over the United States.
May Roy find the peace and love in the arms of his Heavenly Father that he could not find here on earth.
Memorial Services will be held on February 22, 2013 at 9am at St Elizabeth Church in Ludlow, MA

1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Revelation 14:13And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”
