Obituary for Ruth Dobbie
Ruth Webster Dobbie, 89, died November 3,2021 after a long life well-lived. Ruth Webster was born on November 29,1931, in Southbridge, Massachusetts to Mary (Bliss) and Ralph Webster. Ruth loved school and everything about it. Anyone who knew Ruth knew of her love of music and dancing. Her senior superlatives included: best dancer and “the girl with the permanent smile,” which she carried with her for the rest of her life. Ruth was married at 18 to the love of her life, Robert Dobbie. During their 53-year marriage, Ruth and Bob enjoyed bowling, bridge, traveling, and family gatherings, which always included card games. Ruth was a talented artist and baker. Above all, she made anyone in her company-from the clerk at the grocery store to her grandchildren-feel special and loved. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Robert and her brother, Leonard. Ruth will be deeply missed and never forgotten by her family and friends. Her loving spirit will live on in her three children, Robert Dobbie of Westborough, MA, Susan Ranzenhofer (Michael) of Williamsville, NY, and Mark Dobbie of Raleigh, NC, nieces Nancy Webster and Ceil Bouchard of The Villages, FL, and seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Rebecca, Lisa, David, Melissa, Scott, and Lauren. Calling hours for Ruth will be held on Monday, December 6th from 10:00am-11:00am at the Ludlow Funeral Home, followed by burial at Island Pond Cemetery in Ludlow.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Chapter of Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
