Obituary for Salvador Rodrigues
Salvador Rodrigues, 74, of Indian Orchard, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Vale Benfeito, Portugal, son of the late Joaquim and Elizette (Monteiro) Rodrigues, he was educated in Portugal and proudly served in the Portuguese Army. In 1973, he immigrated to the United States and completed his education receiving his High School Diploma from Ludlow High School. Salvador worked for 21 years at Jahn Foundry and for 17 years at Kimball Towers in Springfield from where he retired. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his family. Salvador was the beloved husband of 51 years to Laurinda (DeSousa) Rodrigues; a devoted father to Phillip Rodrigues, of Chicopee, and Steven Rodrigues and wife Angela, of Springfield; a loving grandfather to Alexander, Natalie, and Emanual Rodrigues and surrogate grandfather to his little buddy Logan Torres; a dear brother to Leonel Rodrigues in Portugal, and the late Fernando and Antero Rodrigues; and also leaves his beloved pug Lola; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and dear friends both here and in Portugal. Funeral services for Salvador will be held on Sunday, April 7th. Visiting Hours are from 11:00am-12:45p in Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a funeral home chapel service at 1:00pm. There will be no burial and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Salvador’s memory to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish 417 Boston Rd, Springfield, MA 01109.
