Sandra Anne Dorval, wife and mother of three from Springfield, MA and Loudon, NH. Sandra A. (Maynard) Dorval was born on February 19, 1947 to Lilia O’Keefe and Albert Maynard in Springfield, MA. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family under the care of Baystate Hospice.
Sandra leaves behind her devoted husband of 42 years, David J. Dorval; a sister Carol Durocher of Kissimmee, Florida; a brother, David Maynard and wife Donna of Pittsfield, NH; a brother Mark Maynard and wife Pat of Palmer, MA; and a brother Richard Maynard and wife Sherry of Springfield, MA. She also leaves behind 3 children; a son, Jason Dorval and wife Amy of Whately, MA; a son, Sean Dorval and wife Kristen of Jamestown, NY; and a daughter Aimee (Dorval) Patalano and husband Anthony of Ludlow, MA.
Sandra leaves behind seven grandchildren. Ashley White, Alexa Palazzi, and Anthony Patalano from her daughter Aimee Patalano and Connor, Elise, Cameron, and Courtney Dorval from her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Amy Dorval.
Sandra retired in 2000 from many years of working at Western New England College in Springfield, MA.
Sandra’s wishes were to be cremated and buried at a later date with her husband. The visiting hours will be at the Ludlow Funeral Home located at 432 East St. in Ludlow, MA on April 28, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. The burial service will be at the chapel at the Mass Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery located at 1391 Main St. in Agawam, MA on April 29, 2010 at 1 pm.
This cemetery only allows 2 flower arrangements to be displayed. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, please either bring a perennial plant to be planted by the grandchildren in her honor or make a donation to the Community Resources for People with Autism 116 Pleasant Street, Suite 366 Easthampton, MA 01027 or the Down Syndrome Resource Group of Western Mass. c/o The Association for Community Living 1 Carando Drive, Suite 2 Springfield, MA 01104-3211 in honor of her grandson, Connor R. Dorval.
