Obituary for Sophie V. (Pasierb) Almeida
Sophie V. (Pasierb) Almeida, 88, of Ludlow, died peacefully on April 9, 2013 with the love of her family surrounding her. Born in Wilbraham, daughter of the late Thomas and Victoria (Swiatek) Pasierb, she was a longtime Ludlow resident and communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She also loved playing bingo, her card nights, and trips to the casino, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sophie was the beloved wife of the late Antonio "Tony" Almeida, who predeceased her in 1992; a loving mother to James Almeida and former wife Liz, of Springfield, Dorothy Davis and husband Bill, Patti Beauregard and late husband Fred, all of Ludlow, and Mark Almeida and wife Lonnie, of CT; a cherished grandmother to her 11 grandchildren Thomas Beauregard and wife Pattie, Mark Davis, Tracey Beauregard and Fiancee Thomas Ware, Jeffrey Almeida and wife Kelly, Tony Davis and wife Tara, Brian Almeida, Steven Beauregard, David Almeida, Douglas Almeida and wife Sheri, Michael Almeida and wife Grace, and Joe Almeida and girlfriend Gillian Roy; an adoring great-grandmother to her 16 great-grandchildren Matthew, Emily, Jonathan, Olivia, and Anthony Beauregard, Nathan, Justin and Ryan Davis, Emma, Cameron, Madison, Andrew, Tucker, and Christopher Almeida, and Austin and Thomas Ware; a dear sister to Casimir Pasierb, Josephine Lentowski, and the late John Pasierb, Frances Majka, Helen Beida, and Anna Dargis; dear sister-in-law to Margaret Mathias, Amy Kania, and Casey and Mary Almeida; and also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services are on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10:00am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Monday from 4-8pm.
