Obituary for Stefan Jyz Jr.
Stefan Jyz Jr., 88, of Ludlow, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 13, 2006, two days before his 89TH birthday. Born in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield he was a lifelong Ludlow resident and a faithful communicant of Christ the King Church, a member of the Polish American Veterans of Wilbraham and a volunteer for Brightside and Sunshine Village. He was a 20 year career Navy veteran serving his country honorably in World War II and Korea. He served in the Pacific Theatre earning the Purple Heart and 9 Campaign Stars. For over two years, he enjoyed life at the Holyoke Soldiers Home in the company of his new friends. Throughout his time at the Soldiers’ Home, He was always cared for with dignity and honor by the staff. Stefan leaves his loving and devoted family; his sons Timothy Jyz of Chicopee and James Jyz of Ludlow, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Jennie (Rachmaciej) Jyz in 2003 as well as his daughters Elizabeth in 2003 and Frances in 1987. Funeral services with full military honors will be held Saturday March 16, 2006 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Christ the King Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Friday 4-7pm.
