Susan “Sue” (Marques) Ribeiro, 76, of Ludlow passed on Saturday morning, April 4, 2026. Born in Ludlow, Sue was a lifelong resident and 1967 graduate of Ludlow High School. Over a 40-year career with Bank of America, Sue served in various roles at several bank branches in the Greater Springfield area. She leaves her beloved husband of 45 years, Lionel; her sons Matthew and his wife Marianne of Billerica and Jeffrey, of Boston; her cherished grandchildren, Mia, Maddox, and Makayla; her niece Ashley de Jong and her companion Corey Jervis and her brother-in-law Neil “Kees” de Jong and many family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her loving parents Lawrence and Ermina Marques and her dear sister, Elena “Elaine” de Jong.
She was infinitely proud of her two sons and their accomplishments over the years. Aside from her sons, her greatest pride and joy were her three grandchildren who lovingly called her Avó Avó. She was a source of endless love and made each of them feel deeply cherished and special. She adored spending time with each of them, driving from Ludlow to Billerica to attend their school events, sports games, and dance recitals. She also enjoyed annual family summer vacations to Cape Cod and a recent trip to Disney World.
Sue led a selfless life where her focus was always the wellbeing of her loved ones, family, and friends. Sue and Lionel did most things together, including starting their days with a hot cup of coffee while watching the news as Sue worked on her daily crossword puzzle. She also loved curling up with a good book or lounging in the sun next to her backyard pool, only going in when the water approached 80 degrees. Sue loved socializing with her family, friends and coworkers and was at ease when surrounded by others. Sue also enjoyed watching a good movie, including an occasional Hallmark movie, and attending live music events. After dinner, Sue and Lionel enjoyed watching TV together, including their daily episode of Jeopardy.
Funeral services for Sue will be held on Monday April 13th from the Ludlow Funeral Home, visitation is from 10:15am-12:00pm with a Celebration of Life Chapel Service at the funeral home beginning at noon with Father David Darcy presiding, burial will follow in Reservoir Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Shriners Children's Hospital New England.
