Obituary for Thaddeus J. Kowal
Thaddeus J. Kowal, 74, retired Chief Master Sgt. of the 104th Tactical Wing at Barnes Airfield Base, died suddenly on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. He was born in Chicopee and lived most of his life in Springfield. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Ludlow “Loafer’s” Golf League and had worked for over 18 years at Westover Country Club. He was also active locally in both the American Legion and VFW clubs, and was a faithful member of the Evangel Assembly Church in Wilbraham. Thaddeus was the beloved husband of Diane (Talbot) Kowal of Springfield, and his late first wife Arline (Cirilli) Kowal, who predeceased him in 2001; a loving father to Matthew Kowal and wife Dawn, of Monson, Anthony Kowal and wife Yvonne, of Springfield, Christina Kowal and companion Kenneth Pooler Jr., of Springfield, and his step-daughter Therese Sullivan of Springfield, a cherished grandfather of Madison, Matthew Jr., Morgan, Max, Stephen, Jenna and David; a dear brother to Paul Kowal of Belchertown; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 8:30am from Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Springfield at 10:00am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow. Visiting hours will be Monday evening from 4-7pm.

Friends and family are also asked to gather for a memorial service and celebration of life to be held on Saturday evening October 19th at 7 P.M. at the Evangel Assembly Church in Wilbraham.
