Obituary for Thelma "Mimi" (Doughty) Costa
Mrs. Thelma “Mimi” (Doughty) Costa, 89 of West Newbury died Saturday morning at Haverhill Crossings. She was born in Ludlow on July 2, 1920 daughter of the late Francis and Grace (Doner) Doughty.  Ludlow was her home where she was educated, met the love of her life, the late John Costa, and raised her family.  After raising her family she spent many years as Nutrition Program Director for the Ludlow Council on Aging. She enjoyed spending summers on Haviland Pond, playing poker and scrabble, and doing crossword puzzles. For the past two years Mrs. Costa lived at Haverhill Crossings where she continued to share her love, smiles and spirit with all her new friends. She is the mother of the late Robert Costa and Arthur Janes. Her surviving family includes two daughters, Karen Natario and her husband Tom of West Newbury, Susan Costa and her husband Michael Bernatowicz of Westerly, RI, and her son Jay Costa and his wife Laura of Tierra Verde FL.  From a family of ten she is survived by five sisters, Millie Ollari and Ann Folger both of Ludlow, Helen Barsh of Springfield, Caroline Johnson of CA, and Marie Bleam of PA.  She will be deeply missed by her five grandchildren, great granddaughter as well as several nieces and nephews.  Chapel services for Thelma will be held on Wednesday, May 19th, 2010 at 12:00pm from the Ludlow Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Island Pond Cemetery.  Visting hours will precede the service Wednesday morning from 10:00am-12:00pm.
