Obituary for Theodore S. "Benny" Burek
Theodore S. “Benny” Burek, 78, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2009.  He was born in Wilbraham to the late Stanley and Honorata (Giza) Burek and was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School.  Theodore was a United States Army Veteran serving his country honorably during the Korean War and worked for over 30 years at UTC-Hamilton Standard before his retirement in 1991.  Theodore was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, a member of the Lusitano Alumni and Fans, Portuguese American Citizens Club and the clinic at Holyoke Soldiers Home; as well as an avid golfer, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. Theodore was the loving husband of 56 years to Alice (Leite) Burek; a loving father to Jeff Burek and his wife Mary Ann, of Scituate, MA, Michael Burek and his wife Denise, of Ludlow, Kenneth Burek and his wife Shelley, of Gorham ME, and David Burek and his wife Kathy, of Buzzards Bay; a cherished grandfather to Nicole Burek, Natalie and husband Scott Boyd, Sarah and Amanda Burek, Kaitlin and Jeffrey B. Burek, Meghan and husband Michael Elia, Melissa Burek, David T. Burek, Madisyn Burek and his great granddaughter Sage Elia; a dear brother to Walter Burek and wife Anita, Gene Burek and wife Carolyn, Amilia (Millie) and her husband Albert Charron and the late Burton, John, Edward, and Frank Burek, Viola Morin, Rose Beiser, Jane Ptaszkiewicz, Irene Burek and Phyllis Makowiec; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.  There will be no visiting hours.  Friends and family are asked to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 9:30am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial with Military Honors in Mass. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam at 11am.
