Thomas Edward Gonyea, age 73, of Ludlow Ma, passed away on April 2nd surrounded by loved ones. He was born on March 17, 1953 in Springfield to Clarence and Shirley Gonyea. He grew up in Ludlow, Thomas dedicated over 40 years to his work as a plumber, where he was respected for his integrity, honesty, and strong work ethic. He was able to have a long retirement enjoying his yard and many forms of his own artwork that was created with his own hands. It is known by his family that there are countless pieces of his artwork out in the world. From paracord bracelets, poured resin paintings, fly tying, bonsai trees, bird houses, Tom always gave everyone he met something he made. His artwork will continue to be cherished and hold special memories.
In addition to his artwork, he was an avid fly fisherman who taught many friends and family how to enjoy the beautiful Swift River. He spent countless hours on the Swift with his Grandsons and brothers. It became a special place for him and his family.
Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and Papa. He cherished his family deeply and took great pride in his family. He will be remembered for his strength, kind words and support to everyone he met and the countless ways he showed love and support. He will always bring a smile to everyone's face with his amazing tall tales.
He is survived by his cherished bride Sandra (Page) Gonyea, daughters Autumn Neylon her husband William Johnson Jr and Amber Freitas her husband Joe Freitas. His Grandchildren Paige Neylon, Kailee Freitas, Abraham Neylon, Joesph Freitas and Julia Freitas. Sisters Carol St.Onge, Kathleen Sanford, Laurie Larson and brothers John and Joseph Gonyea. He was
preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Shirley Gonyea, brothers William Gonyea, Ronald Gonyea and David Gonyea.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8th at the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visiting hours are from 10:00am-12:00pm with a Celebration of Life Chapel Service beginning at Noon at the Funeral Home with Monsignor Homer Gosselin presiding, his burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Thomas' memory to: Arbor Day Foundation @ arborday.org
He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him. Tom will forever be a Cool Dude.
