Obituary for Tiago Bernardo DeSousa
Tiago Bernardo DeSousa, 91, formerly of Aldo Dr., was called to Heaven on January 4, 2009. Born in Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio Marques and Maria (Silva) DeSousa, and was a member of the Portuguese Army. He came to Ludlow in 1957 and worked for many years at Easco Tool Co. before his retirement.  Tiago was an avid hunter and loved dancing and gardening. He was also a former member of the Gremio Lusitano Club and its bocce league whose team proudly won the 1995 Bocce Championship. Tiago was the beloved husband of the late Olinda (Crispim) DeSousa, who predeceased him in 2002; a loving father to Maria Adelina Root, of Springfield; a cherished grandfather to Michael Daponde and his wife Pam, Thomas Daponde, and Sally Magee and her husband Michael; a beloved great-grandfather to Amanda, Lauren and Andrew Daponde and Abigail and Jessica Magee; a dear brother to the late Joaquim Bernardo Sousa and Jose Bernardo DeSousa; and also leaves 3 nieces, 2 nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews. Funeral services are on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at 8am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 4-7pm.  Memorial donations may be made in Tiago’s memory to the Open Pantry PO Box 5127 Springfield, Ma. 01101.Â
