Obituary for Virginia (Marinho) Martins
Virginia (Marinho) Martins, 82, of Ludlow passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011. Born in Ervedosa do Douro, Portugal to the late Joao and Rita (Balca) Marinho, she lived for many years in Indian Orchard before recently moving to Ludlow and was a faithful communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish. Virginia worked for over twenty years at Milton Bradley/Hasbro in East Longmeadow before her retirement in 1995, she enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. Virginia was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Martins who predeceased her in 2004; loving mother of Tony Martins and his wife Anna of Ludlow; cherished grandmother to Jennifer Estrada and her husband Frank of Ludlow; caring sister to Emilia Passos of Portugal; sister-in-law to Isabel Moura of Indian Orchard and Domingos Martins and his wife Antonia of Ludlow; as well as a caring aunt to many nieces and nephews in Brazil, Portugal and the United States. Sadly she was predeceased by her brothers Antonio, Joao, Emilio and Augusto. Virginia’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Doctor Jose Vinagre and his staff for the wonderful care they provided for her. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 7th, 2011 at 10:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard at 11:00am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday evening from 4:00-7:00pm and in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to: The American Heart Association 54C Wayside Avenue, West Springfield, MA. 01089.
