Obituary for Walter A. Szabla
Walter A. Szabla, of Chapin St. was called to Heaven on Monday, May 22, 2006.  Born in Three Rivers, he was the son of Albert and Mary Szabla.  Walter lived most of his life in Ludlow where he was a communicant of Christ the King Church and a lifelong member of Ludlow Country Club.  He also worked for over 30 years at United Tech before his retirement in 1981.  Walter was the beloved husband of the late Jean (Dymon) Szabla, who predeceased him in 1997; a loving father to David Szabla, Sandra Torretti and Kathryn Martowski and her husband Walter, all of Ludlow; a dear brother of Frank Szabla of Somers, Ct., Vickie Daniel of Ludlow and the late Stanley Szabla and Ann Lombardi; a cherished grandfather of 6; great-grandfather of 4 and a dear friend and companion to Mary Favazza of East Longmeadow.  Friends and family are asked to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Friday morning at 10am in Christ the King Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.  There are no visiting hours and Ludlow Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter’s memory to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. PO Box 631047, Baltimore, MD 21263-1047 or Crohn’s Foundation of America CCFA Honor and Memorial Gifts 386 Park Ave South, 17th floor, New York, NY 10016-8804.
