Obituary for Walter "Bucky" Simao
Walter “Bucky” Simao, 77, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 12th, 2010. Born in Ludlow, the son of the late David and Antonia (Amado) Simao, he was a decorated US Navy Veteran proudly serving his country during the Korean War aboard the USS Bradford receiving the Korean War, United Nations Victory, Good Conduct and China Service Medals. He was also a member of the Korean Veterans Chapter 2000 of Massachusetts. He was a retired supervisor for Monsanto Co. where he worked for 31years. An avid golfer, Bucky was a 55 year member of the Ludlow Country Club, where he won two 4- ball titles and 3 club championships, plus several hole in one’s. He also served the club as Vice president for 5 years; and 20 years on the Board of Directors. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Griffin) Simao; a sister, Angelina Drew and her children; David , Donna and Beth; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Normand Blanchard, a Godchild and nephew, Jeffry W. Blanchard, godchild Jay Dias,; as well as a niece Lisa Fletcher, and nephews Kevin, Glenn, Daryle Goulet. Funeral Services will be Saturday, MAY 22, 2010, morning only, at the Ludlow Funeral Home and Cremation Services, with visiting hours from 8-9:30 A.M., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10:00am. Burial, with Military honors, will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery . Please omit flowers, and the family has requested donation in Bucky’s memory be made to Baystate Visiting Nurse & Hospice, 50 Maple St. Spfld,Ma.01102, or the charity of ones choice
