Obituary for Walter Tranquilli
Walter Tranquilli, 84, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Saturday May 28th, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ludlow to the late Eugenio and Maria (Pancotti) Tranquilli, he was a life long Ludlow resident and a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Church. Walter served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II receiving the World War II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal and Asiatic Pacific Ribbon. He enjoyed drawing, sculpturing when he was younger, working on cars and lawn mowers and reading. He leaves his beloved wife of 49 years Anita (Sorrell) Tranquilli of Ludlow; loving children, Mary-Ann Grasso and her husband Michael of Windsor, CT., Edward Tranquilli and his wife Mary of Springfield, Matthew Tranquilli and his wife Laura of El Cajon, CA., Jeanette Chiasson and her husband Ronald of Belchertown and Diane Miller and her husband Lawrence of Ludlow; cherished grandchildren Steven and Michelle Grasso, Paul and Mark Tranquilli, Andrew and Elizabeth Chiasson and Amanda Miller; Caring sister Liza Syrek and her husband Carl of Wilbraham and sister-in-law Alice Tranquilli of Ludlow as well as several nieces and nephews. Sadly Walter was predeceased by his brother Ardino in 2007 and his step-mother Anna Tranquilli. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mercy Hospice for all their loving care during his illness. Visiting hours for Walter are Wednesday evening from 4:00-7:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home, his funeral will take place on FRIDAY June 3rd 2011. Family and friends are asked to meet on Friday at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Church in Ludlow for a Liturgy of Christian Mass followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
