Obituary for Wasyl Pyrik
Wasyl Pyrik, 89, of Chicopee passed away peacefully on Thursday, December1, 2011. Born in Ukraine he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Lizak) Pyrik. He immigrated to this country in 1949, living in Amherst and Holyoke before settling in Chicopee in 1959. Proud of his Ukraine heritage, Wasyl was a faithful member of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church and worked for many years at the former Dreikorn Bakery before his retirement in 1984. Wasyl leaves his beloved wife of 65 years, Anna (Wowk) Pyrik of Chicopee; loving children Steven Pyrik of Charleston, Walter Pyrik of San Diego and Mary Sullivan of Ludlow; 8 cherished grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren as well as his extended family in Ukraine. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home, with a Liturgy Mass celebrated in St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday evening from 6:00-8:00pm with Panakhyda service begining at 7:40pm with Father Ed Young.
