William A. Bartos, Jr., 75, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born in Northampton, son of the late William Bartos, Sr., and Edna (Rup) Bartos. He was a longtime Ludlow resident. Bill was a proud United States Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era, and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in business at Western New England College and went on to receive his Master’s degree from American International College. He was the owner of Barton Brothers painting for many years. Bill loved to spend time outdoors, in his younger years he enjoyed snow skiing and water skiing. He loved going to the beach, especially to his favorite place, Maine, where he enjoyed eating lobster. He enjoyed camping and traveling and was passionate about his vegetable and flower garden. All the local florists knew Bill by name, as he faithfully would purchase flowers for his wife Linda weekly. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Bill was the beloved husband of Linda (Lopes) Bartos; a loving father to Justin Silva and spouse Anna, and Kelly Silva Rua and son-in-law Joe A. Rua; a doting grandfather to Emily and Allison Rua, and Leah and Logan Silva; a dear brother to Karen Murphy and the late Mark Bartos and his widow Cherie; and brother-in-law to Donna Rinaldi and husband Roger, and Rosanna Goodfield and husband Ed; Bill also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. The family would like to thank Baystate Wing and Baystate Springfield for their exceptional care and extraordinary bedside manner through his lengthy stay, as well as Beacon Hospice for their outstanding care and understanding during this most difficult time. The family would also like to thank the many doctors and staff at the Northampton VA medical center for their excellent care and compassion given to Bill throughout the years. The family would also like to give an extra special thank you to Cheryl Johnson and the staff at Mercy Adult Day Health for the love and support they showed to Bill during his weekly visits there. It was Bill’s wish that his funeral services be held privately with Ludlow Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
