Obituary for William Covington, Sr
William Covington, Sr. 84, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Born in Albemarle, NC, to the late Adolphus and Lorena (Shepherd) Covington, he was a longtime resident of Ludlow and lived in Panama City Beach, Fl for 16 years before moving to Chicopee. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956-1958 and was employed at Sheet Metal Workers from where he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, going to the casino and especially traveling to Florida.
Bill was predeceased by his first wife Sandra Covington who predeceased him in 1999; and is the beloved husband of 22 years to Rose (Mezzetti) Covington; a loving father to his children William Covington, Jr. and partner Michelle, David Covington, Diane Porcello and husband Keith, and Sharon DaSilva and husband Kenny, and step-daughter Cheryl and husband Scott and Lisa; a dear brother to Alice Coker, Liz Fouty, Robert Covington, Ann Covington, and the late Wayne Covington; and also leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends. Visiting hours for Bill will be held on Tuesday, July 5th from 9:00-10:00am in Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00am followed by burial with Military Honors in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Soldier’s Home 110 Cherry St. Holyoke, Ma. 01040.
