Obituary for William "Wasyl Solecki
William “Wasyl” Solecki, 89, of West Springfield passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 31st, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Krosne, Ukraine to the late Stanley and Maria Solecki, he was a very active and faithful parishoner of St. Peter and Paul Ukranian Catholic Church in Ludlow. Wasyl worked for many years at the former H.B. Smith Company of Westfield before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, but his greatest love was his family. Wasyl was predeceased by his beloved wife Olga (Barche) Solecki, who passed away in November 2007. He leaves his loving children; William Solecki (Stella) of East Hartford, Joanna Kostopolus (William) of West Springfield, Sonia Cavanaugh (Jack) of Clevland, John Solecki (Teddi) of Feeding Hills, Anna Palmer (David) of Chicopee and Michael Solecki (Kathleen) of Wilton, CT.; his cherished grandchildren Richard (Marisa), April, Matthew (Amanda), Nicholas, Michael, Jonathan, Leanne, Ryan, Sean, Thomas, Serena, Johnny, Laurie and Sharon; as well as his caring great-grandchildren Danielle, Anneliese and Jordan. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East Street, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00am in St. Peter and Paul Ukranian Catholic Church, burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Springfield. Visiting hours for Wasyl are Monday evening from 5:00pm-8:00pm with Panakhyda services at 7:30pm. Memorial donations may be made in Wasyl’s memory to: St. Peter and Paul’s Church.
