Obituary for Zulmira (Coelho) Carvalho
Zulmira (Coelho) Carvalho, 92, of Longmeadow and formerly Ludlow passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Jewish Nursing Home surrounded by her adored family. Born and raised in Ludlow to Joao and Florinda Coelho. Zulmira was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. She was the beloved wife of the late James Carvalho who predeceased her in 2002. She leaves her loving children James Carvalho and wife Lucy of Longmeadow and Maria “Irene” Lay of Rockland; cherished grandchildren Alicia Carvalho and husband Timothy Boyle, Kyle Carvalho and his fiancee Megan Blakeslee, Jeffrey Lay and his fiancee Kat Moulisen, Jon Lay and his wife Rachel Maguire, and Timothy Lay; cousins Diolinda Santos of Ludlow and Florence Shea of Indian Orchard. Sadly Zulmira was also predeceased by her brother Andre Coelho. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the NY unit at the Jewish Nursing Home, and Spectrum Home and Hospice for their loving care of Zulmira, whom they affectionately called "Zummie". Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday evening from 4:00-6:00pm. Donations may be made to the Jewish Nursing Home or to Our Lady of Fatima Church.
