Obituary for Isaura M. (da Silva) Pio
Isaura M. (da Silva) Pio, 93, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow, daughter of the late Joaquim and Teresa Moura, she travelled to Gralhas,Montalegre, Portugal in 1927 where she resided until 1956. She then returned to Ludlow where she was a faithful and devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She worked for many years at Chicopee undergarment from where she retired in 1989; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Isaura was the wife of the late Albino Alves Pio; a loving mother to Joseph Pio and wife Rosa, Fernando Pio and wife Rosa, Jack Pio and wife Heidi, Anthony Pio and wife Florinda, and Teresa Pio Dailey; a cherished grandmother of Scott, Michael, Jonathan, Jorge, Lisa, Lori, Sherry, Susan, Joshua, Nicholas, Michele, and Jennifer; adoring great-grandmother of 13; a dear sister to Aldina and Maria Carvalho and the late Ilda Ferreira, and also leaves several loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Isaura’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Life Care Center of Wilbraham for the exceptional care that they provided to her. Visiting Hours for Isaura are on Thursday, February 6th from 5:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Friday at 9:00am from the funeral home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations are made in Isaura’s memory to Shriners Hospital for Children 516 Carew St. Springfield, Ma. 01104.
