Obituary for Americo “Mack” Carneiro
Americo “Mack” Carneiro, 96, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2020. Born in Milford, son of the late Manuel and Jesuina Carneiro, he was a longtime Ludlow resident where he was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano and Polish American Citizens Clubs. Mack was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving his country during WWII and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He worked for many years at the former Westinghouse and later for 30 years at the former Digital Corporation from where he retired. He was also an avid Red Sox fan and soccer fan belonging to the Lusitano Alumni and Fans and many area soccer clubs, as well as a member of the Elks Lodge of Chicopee. Mack was the beloved husband of 68 years to the late Hilda (Cruz) Carneiro, who predeceased him in May 2019; a loving father of Dean Carneiro and wife Kerry, of Ludlow, and Carey Carneiro, of NY; the dear brother of Joaquim “Jack” Carneiro and late wife Lucille, Antonio “Tony” Carneiro, and late wife Elsie, and Hilda Dias and late husband Armand; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for Mack are on Tuesday, February 11th from 4:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home Funeral services are on Wednesday, February 12th. Visitation will begin at 10:15am concluding with a funeral service at 11:00am in the funeral home followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mack’s memory to Visiting Angels (visitingangels.com) or Griswold Home Care (griswoldhomecare.com).
