Obituary for Vivian "Viv" (Hodge) Zagranski
Vivian (Viv) R. (Hodge) Zagranski, 90, of Longmeadow, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 4, 2017 in Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family who will miss her dearly. She was born on March 28th 1926 to Everett and Hazel (Lyons) Hodge in Clarks Lake, Michigan. While attending Jackson High School, she and a sister and cousin sang for the troops at the Fort Custer VA Hospital and Canteen. For several years she also sang with the Sweet Adelines in Jackson MI. After marrying her husband Mitchell Zagranski who was stationed in Michigan in 1944, they eventually settled in his childhood home in Ludlow MA where they resided until his death in 2007. She was a well known vocalist in the area, singing at weddings and the Scottish Guild as well as a soloist and choir member at the Union Church of Christ in Ludlow. Vivian also enjoyed performing with the Springfield Symphony Chorus. For many years she worked as a payroll clerk in Springfield before her retirement in 1985. She is survived by her two daughters; Lois Stafford, and her husband Scott, of Quaker Hill Ct. and Suzanne Pearson, and her husband Donald of Simsbury Ct., three grandchildren; Christina Stafford, Scott Stafford Jr, and his wife Sally, and Jennifer Novak, and her husband Jerald, five great-grandsons; Scott III “Jack”, Mitchell, Nathan “Nate”, John Paul “JP” and Bennett ”Ben” and a cousin and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Viv was predeceased by her six siblings. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Ludlow Funeral Home on Saturday, March 25th at 1:00pm. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm until the time of the service.
