Obituary for William L. Gaumond
William L. Gaumond, 72, of Ludlow, died peacefully on June 17, 2017 at the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke with his beloved wife by his side. Born in Medford, son of the late Armand and Leona (Aubertin) Gaumond, he was a longtime Ludlow resident where he was a devoted member of Christ the King Church and member of its Men’s Guild. William graduated from Holyoke Community College and UMASS Amherst and was a United States Navy Veteran proudly serving his country as a Submariner during the Vietnam War. He worked as a teacher for the Westover Job Corps and also belonged to the Polish American Club and VFW in Ludlow. William was the beloved husband of 47 years to Maryjean Gaumond; a devoted father to Ethan Gaumond, of Portland, OR, Benjamin Gaumond, of Elko NV, and Aaron Gaumond, of Gladstone, OR; the grandfather of Nathaniel, Julian, and Cassie; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends including Froilan Sarmiento, Janet Gravel and husband Robert, Marlene Quinlan, and Jim Johnson. Family and friends are asked to gather from a Funeral Liturgy on Friday, June 23rd at 10:00am in Christ the King Church. At William’s request, there are no visiting hours and burial will be held privately by his family. Ludlow Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William’s memory to The American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or Christ the King Adoration Chapel Fund 41 Warsaw, Ave. Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
