James P. Mikaelian, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, surrounded by his family. Born in Ludlow on July 21, 1939, he was the son of the late Suran “John” Mikaelian and Stella (Wojick) Mikaelian. He graduated from the former Springfield Technical High School and was sworn into U.S. Navy Co. 125 on July 4, 1957. He went back to school nights at Holyoke Community College and Western New England College to obtain a bachelor's degree while working for New England Telephone from which he retired as a manager.
Jim enjoyed spending summers in Maine with his family and “shooting the moon” while playing Hearts. He loved animals and had rescued several dogs from the SPCA.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Kapinos) Mikaelian of Ludlow, three children; a son Michael J. Mikaelian and his wife Debra of Florence, MA, two daughters; Kimberly I. Davidson and her husband Joel of Ludlow, MA, and Dr. Pamela A. Mikaelian and her companion Giulio of Middlefield, CT.
He also leaves four grandchildren, Jessica and Alexander of Florence, MA and Victoria and John of Ludlow, MA. James is predeceased by his brother John “Jack” Mikaelian.
Funeral services are on Tuesday, September 27th. Visitation from 10:00-11:15am in Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00pm in St. Cecilia Parish Wilbraham followed by burial at 2:00pm in MA Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomas J. O’Connor animal shelter.
