Obituary for Naida (Batista) Nascimento
Naida (Batista) Nascimento, 65, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Valdanta, Chaves, Portugal, Naida was the beloved daughter of Armando and the late Celeste (Dias) Batista. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1963 with her family and settled in Ludlow where she was a graduate of Ludlow High School and faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Naida worked for over 35 years in the banking industry before retiring and in her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, reading, and sitting on the beach, especially Smuggler’s Beach in S. Yarmouth; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her cherished grandchildren. Naida was the beloved wife of 45 years to Jaime Nascimento; a devoted mother to Robert Nascimento and wife Courtney, of Wellesley, and Diane Nascimento, of Lancaster; an adoring grandmother to Brynn and Reid Nascimento; a dear sister to Jose Joao Batista and wife Candida, of Ludlow, Carlos Batista, of Three Rivers, and Teresa Batista, also of Ludlow; and also leaves 2 granddogs, 5 godchildren, several loving aunts and uncles, extended family members, and dear friends. Funeral services for Naida will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd at 11:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00pm in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours will precede the funeral on Wednesday from 9:00-11:00am, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nascimento Family and Friends ALS Walk team (web.alsa.org/goto/Nascimento) The ALS Association Massachusetts Chapter 685 Canton St - Suite 103 - Norwood, MA 02062.
