Obituary for Dorothy C. Mencaroni
Dorothy C. Mencaroni of Springfield passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on July 30, 2024. Born in Ludlow, daughter of the late Sator and Felicia (Kielbania) Peczka, she was a graduate of Ludlow High School and American International College where she was president of her sorority. She raised her family in East Longmeadow and was a communicant of Saint Michael's Parish before moving to the Wellington in Springfield where she was a beloved member of the community. Retired from many years of teaching at Cathedral High School in Springfield, she also taught in the Chicopee and Agawam school systems. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her late husband and visiting her family, she was an avid knitter and a voracious reader. She loved her Red Sox and Patriots. Dorothy now joins her late husband of 57 years Paul Mencaroni; was a loving mother to Michael Mencaroni and wife Ruthanne of Long Island, NY and Paula Collins and husband Shane of Alford, Fl.; a cherished grandmother to Michael and Anthony Collins, Tyler Dade, Julia Mencaroni and Michael Mencaroni, Jr. She leaves a dear sister Geraldine and husband Robert Lucas of Wilbraham and brother Daniel and wife Mary of Halfmoon, NY. Visiting hours for Dorothy will be held on Sunday Afternoon August 4th, 2024 from 3:00-5:00pm at the Ludlow Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place on Monday, August 5th and family and friends are asked to gather directly at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1023 Parker Street in Springfield, for a 10:00am Liturgy of Christian Mass followed by a funeral procession to St. Michaels Cemetery for her burial.
