Obituary for Martin T. “ Marty” Condon
Martin T. Condon, 78, of Chicopee, passed away on October 16, 2018 with family by his side. Born in Ludlow, he was the son of the late Thomas and Genevieve (Baldyga) Condon, and was a longtime resident of Ludlow before moving to Chicopee 13 years ago. Marty was a graduate of Springfield Trade School; and in 1957, he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving aboard the USS Hymen. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force Reserve at Westover Air Force Base. He took great pride in his military services until his retirement as a Master Sergeant- E7 in 1994. Marty was employed as a right of way agent for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Works. He also worked as a tax preparer and real estate broker in the area.
Upon his retirement, he wintered in Florida where he offered his tax preparation services at MacDill Air Force Base. He was also active in the Westover Retirees Activities Office (RAO); where he truly enjoyed the camaraderie and time spent there. Marty was a member of the American Legion and a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish.
Marty leaves behind his beloved daughters Kimberly Condon, of Wilbraham, Kristen Condon and her husband Robert Rezzani, of Springfield; dear brother Matthew Condon his wife Tillie, of Ludlow, and loving sister Celeste Benoit, of East Longmeadow; a devoted grandfather to Thomas Rezzani, Chase and Brody Harrison; and also leaves his friend Carol, many nieces and nephews, loving family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for Marty will be held on Monday, October 22nd from 9:15am - 10:30am at Ludlow Funeral Home with Christian Liturgy at 11:00am at St. Elizabeth Church, Ludlow. Upon the conclusion of Mass, the family will have a funeral gathering. Family and friends are then invited to attend committal services with Military Honors to be held at 3:00pm at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Marty’s memory to Westover Air Reserve Base , Building 1510, room 139 (RAO) 250 Jenkins St. Chicopee, Ma 01022.
