Obituary for Joanne A. (Vitoi) Martel
Joanne A. (Vitoi) Martel, 74, of Ludlow and Chicopee, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2019. Born in Westfield, daughter of the late Leo and Nellie Vitoi, she attended South Hadley H.S. and graduated from Maria Assumpta Academy. Joanne was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish and in her spare time, enjoyed bingo and going on bus trips to New York and Boston; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her 2 grandsons. Joanne was the loving mother to Ronald Martel and wife Kathy, of Ft. Myers, FL, and Sandra Picard and husband Steve, of Ludlow; an adoring grandmother to Nathan and Matthew Martel; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for Joanne will be held on Friday, January 18th from 5:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 19th at 10:15am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in St. Elizabeth Parish 191 Hubbard St. Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
