Obituary for Isaura (Pina) Simao
Isaura Simao, 91, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Isaura was born in Hudson, Ma and spent her youth in Portugal before settling in Ludlow. She was the daughter of the late Jose Augusto and Maria Pina and worked for many years at the Ludlow Mills and later for Tambrands from where she retired. Isaura was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and volunteer for its annual Festa. She was also a former member of the Women of the Gremio Lusitano Club, an active member and volunteer at the Ludlow Senior Center, and loved cooking, crocheting, and especially her Sunday dinners with her family. Isaura was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Simao, who predeceased her in 1989; a devoted mother to son Alexandre Simao and wife Elizabeth, and daughter Diane Murphy, all of Ludlow; a loving grandmother to Erin Murphy-Swenson and husband Eric, Alex Simao, Jr., and wife Erin, Jennifer Donovan and husband John, and David Simao; a cherished great-grandmother to Eleanor Donovan, due in July; a dear sister to the late Antonio, Maria, Victoria, and Rosa; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services are on Saturday, March 2nd at 8:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Friday from 5:00-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Isaura’s memory to Our Lady of Fatima Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
